Electronics City started out as a vision for the future by R. K. Baliga, who was instrumental in the success of the noted electronics giant, Karnataka Electronics. Baliga planned Electronics city with the idea of making Bangalore India's own Silicon Valley after the famous industrial area in the United States. Unfortunately, Baliga would not live to see his dream come to fruition, since he died in 1988.
